In an exclusive agreement with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Broward County’s Port Everglades will invest more than $100 million to renovate Cruise Terminal 25, which will continue to be the preferential berth for Royal Caribbean and their Celebrity brand Cruise ships.

This agreement replaces the current one that expires at the end of 2017 and the new one will run through 2026 with options to renew for longer.

Steven Cernak, Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director said:

“Renovating Cruise Terminal 25 was already part of our Master/Vision Plan, and was scheduled to begin this year”, “Giving preferential berthing rights to Royal Caribbean allows us to build a facility that meets their expectations for the new generations of larger cruise ships and for the new Celebrity Edge, which is scheduled to homeport at Port Everglades beginning in December 2018.”

Cruise Terminal 25 was first constructed in 1992, with the last renovation occurring in 2004, when an additional elevator was added.

RCCL also has preferential berthing rights to Terminal 18, which was constructed in 2009 to accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world, Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and the newest Harmony of the Seas, which replaced Oasis of the Seas last Fall.

Starting in December 2018, Terminal 25 will be the new home for the Celebrity Edge, a revolutionary new ship from Celebrity Cruises. The 2,900 Guest Celebrity Edge was designed to bring the outside in, with interior spaces filled with natural light and unique designs.
