If you arrive late and miss the ship at embarkation, you may be able to meet it at its first port of call. If you arranged for your own transportation to the port of embarkation by car, air or by other means, then you will be responsible for the cost to get to your destination. If you were late due to an airline delay, you may be able to request compensation. Additionally, if you have travel insurance there may be some coverage provided for this as well. If you booked an air-sea package with the cruise line directly, then they will be responsible to get you to your destination including any overnight hotels. If you miss the ship in a port of call, many attempts will be made by the cruise line to locate you, but eventually the ship must leave to stay on schedule. If this happens, the ship’s security will likely collect belongings from your stateroom (including items from your safe) and they will be left with the ships port agent.
