MSC Cruises is continuing to invest in PortMiami as the hub of their U.S. operations. A new Cruise Terminal AAA at PortMiami will be constructed to accommodate MSC’s World Class cruise ships that will carry up to 7,000 guests. The MSC Cruises Terminal AAA is expected to be completed by October 2022.
“The new agreement and expanded partnership with PortMiami and Miami-Dade County is another key step forward in the business growth of MSC Cruises, as we continue to strengthen our global footprint, with a strategic focus on North America.”
MSC Cruises already has the MSC Seaside, launched this past December and sailing year round from PortMiami. Additionally, the MSC Divina will return with seasonal cruises to the Caribbean from Miami from October through March, MSC Armonia will commence sailing to Cuba from Miami in December 2018 and the largest ship in the fleet, MSC Meraviglia, also launched in 2017, will arrive in November 2019.
Rick Sasso, Chairman of MSC Cruises USA said:
“PortMiami is committed to providing a world-class experience to its guests and thanks to a long-standing collaborative relationship with Miami-Dade County we are thrilled that in less than 18 months MSC Cruises will have four ships sailing from the Port,”
“This will also allow us to make a significant additional contribution to the economy of Miami and the county in its role as the Capital of the Cruise World, especially thanks to the large percentage of international guests traveling to Miami and South Florida to embark and disembark from MSC Cruises ships calling PortMiami. We now look forward to further extending our partnership with the Port and working closely on the development of the new cruise terminal AAA.”
The first World Class ship is due to be completed in 2022, just in time for the new terminal. MSC Cruises has not yet confirmed specifics on where the new ship will commence sailing from or any details on itineraries, but the news of the MSC Cruise Terminal AAA at PortMiami would appear to indicate their intentions.
