Royal Caribbean Officially Postpones Several Dry Docks

There has been much speculation recently about the status of major dry docks involving cruise ships from Royal Caribbean. Many were scheduled to commence right as the cruise industry paused all operations.

Today, Royal Caribbean sent out an official notice to travel partners and media that Amplifications for four of their ships are postponed indefinitely.

Due to the impact of COVID-19 and given the closure of shipyards along with the disruption to the supply chain, Royal Caribbean® would like to make you aware of some updates regarding Allure of the Seas®, Explorer of the Seas®, Liberty of the Seas® and Adventure of the Seas®.

Allure of the Seas was to receive a $165 million transformation similar to her sister ship Oasis of the Seas. Explorer of the Seas $110 million dry dock was scheduled to be completed in May 2020 and include many enhancements. The dry docks for Adventure of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas were originally scheduled or 2021.

Guests booked on any of the affected ships will be notified through Royal Caribbean or their travel agents.
