Celebrity Cruises’ third Edge Class cruise ship, Celebrity Beyond, celebrated an important milestone and the start of her construction as her keel block was laid at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Nazaire, France.
The moment coincided with the shipbuilding industry’s traditional coin ceremony for Celebrity Beyond, which is meant to bring the ship good fortune. Celebrity, a brand known for its efforts to close the gender gap in the maritime industry, fittingly chose a coin from the American Innovation dollar series honoring Annie Jump Cannon, the daughter of an American shipbuilder, a suffragist and a pioneering astronomer credited with the development of contemporary stellar classification.

Celebrity Beyond will join her two sisters, Celebrity Edge launched in 2018 and Celebrity Apex launched earlier this year in a virtual ceremony.
Celebrity Beyond is scheduled to be delivered in Spring 2022.
